![]() ![]() That being said I also don't think its a bug as it would indicate an unused 0 setting for the generators where they are on but don't heat the first ring. I don't think its comparable to hunters huts being missing from OTE as that is specifically explained unlike the Generator range. Its also counter to what you have come to expect elsewhere, I had kept med posts in the first ring in preparation for the generator to be on. Whether its intentional or not, I'd argue its poorly designed as it can give the player the feeling I describe above, which is how I felt when I completed a generator in Builders and how Wombat seems to have felt. realise its not helping you unless you have some homeless in your city or complete some new research so need to wait another day. So after spending weeks and weeks surviving the cold working towards your goal of building the generator you complete it, turn it on and. You need to research new tech such as the steam hub or range upgrade to make it useful. That being said, I understand what Wombat is saying about the generator being useless, because, when you complete it, it is useless. The range upgrades are fun to create a cool looking city, but not ideal. The generator is most effective when being used with steam hubs, 100%. Since your generator is never turned on in the last autumn, it's possible this is entirely oversight from a lack of testing. It being added with the last autumn dlc doesn't necessarily mean it has to work the exact same way. Guess what? The builders scenario is actually a combination of new home and last autumn, it's clearly not 'autmun' since it's below freezing the entire time. Did you type those multiple paragraphs extolling steam hubs forgetting you need a finished generator to build them? Yes, you need the generator as soon as you can after establishing infinite resources. After a month you will usually have cold enough weather that heaters will not be good enough to heat your cookhouse or medical posts. The weather is also variable in endless mode. ![]() It's entirely possible that the endless mode was not heavily tested so this was overlooked. It makes your generator useless for anything but unlocking the rest of the heating tech tree and having a place for automations to refuel. You can pick from various maps for every endless mode, I don't know why you think map size has any bearing on this. If the devs wanted to fix it or it was not mean to be and they want it otherwise would of changed by now it’s not something that hard to see and has been known about since day 1 last autumn.Ĭonsidering I've found bugs elsewhere like scouts that can't be selected after exploring, no I wouldn't hold up the devs as being infallible to have missed an oversight. It only makes the map balance make slightly more sense as malfunctions matter more. It’s dose not make the gen useless far from it. Fact is it’s not going to change so need to deal with it. Yes the gen is never turned on there but the pit size is the same non the less. Not ever other scenario can you build there last autumn the pit is the exact same size and guess what builders mode is the last autumn addition. Well not that there a big deal even with that as even with all the malfunctions on extreme the gen is enough to make 0 deaths happen in every storm from than on as you only need to place two steam hubs to heat houses of healing to bed the sick durring the storm to never get deaths again. The gen ring not being accessible is part of the balance as having 8 more hose spots when you have malfunctions for the gen is quite a bit of a diff as such this pushes you to not want malfunctions vs being able to not worry about them. ![]() Your literly complaining about something that costs you effectivly 6 steal to get the same area where ever you want via a steam hub. The gen is not useless without the first gen ring the main reason for the gen is to be able to place steam hubs not having the first range ring is a loss of 8 house spaces that less than 1/3 of a steam hub. Yes you will have deaths starting 4th storm only a few (About 5) with around 20-40 a storm (based on current pop) for the 5th plus but you find around 100 a storm cycle more than enough to make up for it. You don’t have to rush the generator at all in fact the easiest way is not to and get your economy and city built well before even thinking about it.Įven on extreme the first three storms you won’t have deaths on assuming you are setup well and not rushing it you can have it done pre 4th storm without malfunctions even if you don’t make the gen thou even on extreme you can live forever with positive stable pop growth till pop cap than maintain pop cap without the gen ever being built.
